1.Laugh: Go rent a funny movie or go to a comedy show. There’s a variety of old comedy shows available online for free and you can just goggle them. Keep a funny friend handy. You can play with children and they will always have you rolling, trust me on this one. Research has shown that laughter lowers cortisol and blood pressure immediately.
2.Sing: Sing, sing and sing. OK, I know you can’t sing but do it anyway. When you sing you increase immunoglubulin(a disease fighting protein) according to a recent study by California at Irvine.
3.Give Thanks: Thank everybody! Thank, the good, the bad, the ugly, the pretty, the stank stank, the smell good and everything. All is a true blessing if we understand the lesson that is being taught. Write down your blessings at least once a week and you’ll discover you can’t be stressed out and grateful at the same time . Try it, studies have proven that it is physiologically impossible.
4.Eat Spicy Foods: When you eat spicy foods it releases mood-boosting endorphins. Research has found the more spicy the better.
5.Deep Breath: Focus on the natural rhythm of your breath. Just be aware of the inhalation and exhalation. Put all of your attention on it right now and notice how you instantly become calm.
Three More Extras: Try meditation because research shows that it changes blood flow to the brain, decreases anxiety and improves mental function.
Try Yoga: Yoga reduces stress, boosts mood and improves overall health.. There are numerous studies that prove the health benefits of yoga and it is now being use as a common alternative therapy in major hospitals. i.e. New Youk Presbyterian Hospital.
Get a Massage: It can reduce blood pressure, breathing rate, back pain, reduce depression and take a huge bite out of stress. Many hospitals are using massage therapy in their pain and stress management programs.
