SETUPManage your server licenceActivate your server, handle a lost key, move machines, and understand cancellation and expiry.6 minute read·GuideActivate and check your licenceEach licence covers one machine. Enter your key in the Kantru Server Launcher on the machine that will run your server. Successful activation binds the licence to that machine. The launcher shows the licence status and paid-through date; your account shows your licences and activation information.Keep your key in a password manager. Never post it in community discussions, screenshots, or support messages. The full key is shown once and cannot be retrieved later. How licensing worksEach protected program - the Launcher, ConnectServer, DataServer, GameServer and MHPServer - holds a signed licence lease rather than asking permission for every action. The lease is issued to one machine and to the public IP address it was activated from, and each program renews it by itself roughly once an hour.Because the lease is what authorizes your server, a change made on the website is not felt instantly. A revoked or refunded licence stops the servers at their next check-in, which can be up to an hour away. Restarting a program checks straight away, so a restart is the quickest way to see a change take effect. If the licence service cannot be reached, your server keeps running on the lease it already holds and retries every five minutes. It carries on for up to 72 hours without contact and stops after that. A short outage, on our side or yours, is not meant to interrupt a running server.Cancelling runs to your paid-through date exactly. A failed payment adds three days past that date while the payment is retried. A refund or a revocation ends access at the next check-in instead of waiting for the date. From three days before the paid-through date the launcher shows an expiry warning. It is there for whoever is running the launcher and it never pauses the game.Lost your key?If the launcher still shows Licensed, losing your saved copy does not mean you need to replace it immediately. If you need the key again, open a private support request from the account that owns the licence. Include the licence ID and explain that the key was lost; do not send passwords or keys.Support can reissue the key after checking ownership. Reissuing invalidates the previous key for future activation and renewal. Save the replacement when it is shown, then enter it in the launcher. Arrange a maintenance window if the server is running.Move to another serverBack up your game databases and server configuration before moving. A licence transfer does not move your game files or player data. Stop the old server before activating the replacement machine.Open a private support request with your licence ID and ask to release the old machine binding. After support confirms the release, activate the licence in the launcher on the new machine.Confirm that the launcher shows Licensed and the expected paid-through date, then check your account’s machine details before starting the server.Cancel a subscriptionCancellation stops future automatic billing; it is different from an immediate refund or licence revocation. You can manage the automatic payment in your PayPal account. If you cannot find it, contact support with your licence ID.Access should continue through the recorded paid-through date. Check the date shown in your account after cancellation and contact support if it changes unexpectedly. Refunds or revocation can remove access earlier. If your public IP address changesA licence is bound to your machine and to the public IPv4 address it was activated from. An hourly renewal from a different address is refused, so a server on a dynamic ISP address stops when that address changes. This is deliberate: the address moving unnoticed should not pass silently.Re-activating on the same machine fixes it, and it does not use up a machine change.Open the Kantru Server Launcher on the same machine.Enter your licence key again. Activation re-binds the licence to the new address.Confirm the launcher shows Licensed, then start the servers.Expiry and connection problemsCheck the paid-through date before scheduled maintenance. Renew before expiry to avoid interruption. A failed payment does not guarantee ongoing access; check PayPal and contact support promptly if payment and licence status disagree. The launcher renews a signed licence lease about once an hour, and a running server survives up to 72 hours without reaching the licence service. That tolerance is there for outages, not as a way to run offline: restore connectivity promptly rather than planning around it. See "How licensing works" above for what happens at each stage. If activation fails, check your connection and system clock, then note the exact error and licence ID in a private support request. Do not repeatedly reissue keys to fix a connection problem. Was this guide helpful?Sign in to leave feedbackStill need a hand?
