Chaos Castle

Which castle is yours, the fee, how the roof collapses, how the winner is counted and what the prize is.

Chaos Castle is a free-for-all on a roof that falls apart as the fight goes on. Players and monsters fight in the same arena; when the last monster is dead, the best fighter still standing wins. Every number on this page comes from the server's own files.

Which castle is yours

The armor takes you to the castle that fits your level, and the entry fee is taken as you go in. Magic Gladiator, Dark Lord and Rage Fighter use lower bands. Every third-class character goes to castle 7.

Armor of Guardsman

Buy it for 5,000 zen from Potion Girl Amy, Wandering Merchant Martin, the barmaids and most other general shops. It is used up when you enter; its level does not matter.

You cannot enter

With PK level 4 or higher, during a duel or guild war, while riding a Uniria, Dinorant or Fenrir (a Dark Horse is fine), or wearing a transformation ring. Going in removes you from your party and closes your personal shop.

If fewer than 2 players are inside when the battle should start, it is cancelled: you get the fee and 2,500 zen back, but not the armor.

The battle

  1. Everyone is an enemy

Players and monsters fill the castle to about a hundred bodies. Monsters do not come back. Damage between players is halved, and area skills hit everyone.

  2. The roof falls in

As the count of living players and monsters drops, the outer edge collapses ring by ring:

31–40 left: the outer ring falls. 21–30: the second ring. 20 or fewer: the third ring. If you stand on a ring as it falls you are moved inward; anyone who steps onto a hole dies at once.

The two square pits in the middle are deadly from the start.

  3. Watch the blast

When a monster dies there is a 50% chance that it throws back every player within 3 steps: up to 4 steps away if you stood next to it. Landing on a hole means you fall.

  4. The winner

The battle has a winner only when every monster is dead. Then the living player with the best score wins: 1 point per player kill, 2 per monster kill (a monster counts for whoever did it the most damage). On a tie, whoever entered first wins. If monsters are still alive when the 10 minutes run out, nobody wins.

Rewards

Every player gets experience for their kills when they leave, win or lose, on top of the normal experience from monsters. The amounts are fixed and do not follow the server rate. There is no zen reward.

Good to know

Allowed

  • Buffs you had before entering stay on.
  • Elf buffs, but only on yourself.
  • A Dark Horse.

Not allowed

  • Parties, trading, personal shops, duels and /move.
  • Elf summons, transformation rings and Fenrir.
  • Coming back after you die. Dying here gives no PK status and no death penalty.

Tips

  • Monster kills are worth twice a player kill, and a monster counts for whoever did it the most damage, not the last hit.
  • Stay away from the edges once the count of living players and monsters drops below 40.
  • Do not stand next to a monster you are about to kill: its blast can throw you into a hole.
  • If monsters are still alive when time runs out nobody wins, so leave enough time to clear them.
  • Buff yourself before you go in; the buffs stay on.
