Monster strength
How a monster's level sets its HP, damage and defense, and what the X2, X3, X6 and X9 tiers of the stronger monsters and bosses mean.
On this server every monster's strength comes from its level. One formula turns the level into HP, damage, defense, attack rate and defense rate, so two monsters of the same level are about as tough, wherever they stand. Stronger monsters and bosses sit on a tier that multiplies those numbers. The monster pages show each monster's real values.
The formula
Every stat grows the same way with the level:
stat = A × level^p × e^(k × level)
| Stat | A | p | k |
|---|---|---|---|
| HP | 14.7 | 0.89 | 0.0432 |
| Damage (average) | 2.8 | 0.975 | 0.0095 |
| Defense | 0.47 | 1.245 | 0.012 |
| Attack rate | 6.4 | 0.795 | 0.0109 |
| Defense rate | 1.24 | 0.832 | 0.0149 |
Minimum damage is 93% of the average and maximum damage 107%. HP is rounded to two significant digits. HP climbs fastest: around level 100, a monster ten levels higher has about 1.7 times the HP but only about a fifth more damage.
What a normal monster has
These are the values of an ordinary monster (tier X1) at a few levels:
| Level | HP | Damage | Defense | Attack rate | Defense rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | 180 | 27–31 | 9 | 45 | 10 |
| 25 | 760 | 76–88 | 35 | 109 | 26 |
| 50 | 4,100 | 190–218 | 112 | 247 | 68 |
| 75 | 18,000 | 357–411 | 250 | 449 | 138 |
| 100 | 67,000 | 600–690 | 482 | 741 | 254 |
| 125 | 240,000 | 946–1,088 | 859 | 1,161 | 444 |
| 150 | 830,000 | 1,433–1,649 | 1,456 | 1,763 | 749 |
Tiers
A tier multiplies the formula's values. Monster tiers are for strong regular monsters, boss tiers for bosses: a boss gets much more HP than a monster of the same tier, but less extra damage.
| Tier | HP | Damage | Defense, attack rate, defense rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monster X1 | ×1 | ×1 | ×1 |
| Monster X2 | ×5 | ×1.5 | ×1.25 |
| Monster X3 | ×10 | ×2 | ×1.5 |
| Boss X3 | ×10 | ×1.75 | ×1.5 |
| Boss X6 | ×50 | ×2.5 | ×1.75 |
| Boss X9 | ×125 | ×3 | ×2 |
At level 100, that is:
| Tier | HP | Damage |
|---|---|---|
| Monster X1 | 67,000 | 600–690 |
| Monster X2 | 330,000 | 900–1,036 |
| Monster X3 | 670,000 | 1,200–1,381 |
| Boss X3 | 670,000 | 1,050–1,208 |
| Boss X6 | 3,300,000 | 1,500–1,726 |
| Boss X9 | 8,300,000 | 1,800–2,071 |
Who is on which tier
- Monster X2: the monsters of Vulcanus, Blood Castle 8, Devil Square 7 and the Kanturu and Barracks monsters it uses, and Medusa's Sapi Queens.
- Monster X3: the spider eggs in the Raklion Hatchery. They are level 100, but drop like level 10 monsters.
- Boss X3: most bosses: the field bosses, Kalima 1 to 5, the Land of Trials bosses, the Dark Elf in Balgass Refuge, the White Wizard, the Death King, the Red Dragon, Cursed Santa and most golden monsters, and the weekday bosses of the Imperial Guardian.
- Boss X6: Zaikan, Death Beam Knight, Kalima 6, Medusa, the Crywolf Dark Elf, Nightmare, the Great Golden Dragon, Selupan and Gaion Kharein.
- Boss X9: Kundun, Erohim and Balgass.
Event monsters
Some events set the level of their monsters when they start, and then use the same formula:
- Imperial Guardian: the fortress takes the highest level plus master level in the party and gives its monsters a level from it. The named bosses use the formula at that level, the weekday bosses as Boss X3 and Gaion Kharein as Boss X6.
- Doppelganger: the two Slaughterers use the formula at the level the event gives them, then are made tougher for every extra player in the party.
Tips
- Compare a monster's level with yours before you look at its HP: the level tells you how hard it hits and how well it defends.
- A tier is easy to spot on a monster page: an X2 monster has about five times the HP of other monsters of its level.
- Drops follow the monster's level, or its drop level where it has one, not its tier. See the Raklion guide for how drop levels work.
