Crywolf Fortress

The defence of Crywolf: the Elf altars, Balgass's army, score and ranks, and what a win does for the whole server.

Twice a night Balgass's army marches on Crywolf Fortress. Elves hold the altars that shield the Statue of the Holy Wolf, everyone else keeps the army off them, and Balgass has to die before the battle ends. A win makes monsters weaker on both servers until the next attack. Every number on this page comes from the server's own files.

The altars

Wolf Altar

Only Elves can hold them

An Elf of level 260 or higher stands on the altar and makes a contract. It takes 5 seconds; do not move. One Elf per altar, and each altar can be contracted twice per event. If the Elf dies, steps off or leaves, the contract ends and that try is used up.

The Statue of the Holy Wolf cannot be attacked directly: its shield is the HP of the Elves on the altars. Protect the Elves and you protect the statue. If no altar is held when the battle starts, or all are lost during it, the fortress falls.

The battle

  1. Minute 0: Balgass's army stands ready

Eleven Dark Elf squads wait around the fortress. Anyone standing too close is pushed back.

  2. Minute 5: the rush

The army attacks the statue and the altars. Keep them off the Elves.

  3. Minute 10: Balgass arrives

Balgass appears with 41,000,000 HP. Kill him within five minutes and the battle is won at once.

    Balgass
  4. Minute 15: time is up

If Balgass is still alive, the fortress falls.

Balgass's army

During the battle you lose no experience and no items when you die.

Score and rank

Only kills during the battle count. When it ends, everyone on the Crywolf map gets experience for their rank: the full amount on a win, a tenth on a loss. The amounts are fixed and do not follow the server rate.

What a win changes

Win

Every Elf still on an altar and the top 5 scorers each get a Jewel of Bless.

Until the next Crywolf, on both servers: monsters spawn with 10% less HP, and the Devil's Invitation, Invisibility Cloak and Scroll of Blood mixes get +5%.

Loss

Experience rewards drop to a tenth, no jewels are given, and the Crywolf NPCs stay hidden until the fortress is won back. There is no other penalty.

Drops

Balgass and the Dark Elves drop for whoever did them the most damage: usually 1,000,000 zen, and one time in ten an item from these lists.

Fenrir crafting materials

Crywolf Fortress is the only place the Horn of Fenrir parts drop, from its normal monsters outside the battle. The server rolls them in order and stops at the first drop, so Bless of Guardian is only rolled when no Splinter of Armor dropped.

Good to know

Allowed

  • Anyone on the map can fight and score; only the altars are for Elves.
  • A second Elf can take an altar that was lost, once per altar.

Not allowed

  • Hitting the army before the battle starts: monsters cannot be hurt while the altars are open.
  • Fenrir parts during the event: the normal monsters are gone until it ends.

Tips

  • Elves: get on an altar while they are open, before the battle starts. If no altar is held at the start, the fortress falls at once.
  • Each altar can be taken only twice per event, so keep the altar Elves alive.
  • Save your strength for minute 10: Balgass has five minutes to die.
  • Rank S needs more than 10,000 points; a Dark Elf is worth 3,000, Balgass 7,000.
  • Farm the Scouts outside the event for Splinters of Armor and Bless of Guardian.
